A+ Certification
This entry-level program is designed to prepare
students for the CompTIA A+ Certification with IT
Technician designation. This credential validates the
latest skills needed by today’s Computer Support
Professionals and is the skills benchmark that provides
an entry point into an IT career. It is highly recognized
for excellence in computer hardware and operating
systems covering skills such as installing, building,
upgrading, repairing, configuring, troubleshooting,
optimizing, diagnosing, and preventative maintenance,
with additional elements of soft skills and security.
Requirements for A+ Certification
The CompTIA A+ Certification examinee that passes the
two required exams (CompTIA A+: Essentials and
CompTIA A+: IT Technician) will be CompTIA A+
certified with IT Technician designation. The intent is
to certify individuals in a body of knowledge that is
identified and accepted as the industry standard and to
validate foundational skills of an entry-level Computer
Support Professional. It is not intended to measure
“cutting edge” technologies.
The CompTIA A+ Certification: Essentials course
provides students with the knowledge of basic
hardware, operating systems, and elements of security
and soft skills. The Essentials Exam validates the basic
skills needed by any entry-level technician regardless of
job environment.
The CompTIA A+ Certification: IT Technician exam
validates the ability to perform tasks in the context of
the field service or enterprise environment. This
credential is appropriate for those who work, or plan to
work, in a mobile or corporate technical environment,
or hold a position characterized by a high-level of inperson
client interaction.
Admission Requirements
Grade 12 or equivalent or Mature Student Status and
must achieve a grade of 75% or better on our entrance
exam. Prospective students will be required to
complete an IT assessment of their motivation, aptitude
and general fit for such a program.
