Course Aim
To familiarize the student with procedures involved in performing inspection of air conditioning and heat pumps in residential establishments.
Of Interest To
Individuals interested in pursuing a career as home inspectors, in a home inspection firm, starting their own home inspection business, or owning a franchise, and furthering their knowledge of air conditioning and heat pump inspection.
Method of Delivery
Learning supported by a qualified off-site instructor; students are provided with course content that includes all of the required courseware, and are supported by a live technical instructor during regular business hours. Students have access to an instructor via e-mail outside of regular business hours.

Course Introduction

This course covers inspection of cooling systems and heat pumps. The student learns to identify typical defects in these and apply correct inspection techniques. The student also learns how to identify common energy sources and transfer media used in central air conditioning, common air conditioning configurations, consider the age and capacity of the cooling system, and approximate the adequacy of the system. The student will develop a good understanding of operation of heat pumps, recognize important heat pump components, and detect common problems found with heat pumps, and their components.

Course Notes

Course manual provided for on-going reference. There is a final exam upon completion of the course. Participants who receive 75% or higher on their exam will receive a certificate.
