Course Aim
To provide the student with in-depth knowledge of roof inspection.
Of Interest To
Individuals interested in pursuing a career as home inspectors, in a home inspection firm, starting their own home inspection business, or owning a franchise, and furthering their knowledge of roofing inspection.
Method of Delivery
Learning supported by a qualified off-site instructor; students are provided with course content that includes all of the required courseware, and are supported by a live technical instructor during regular business hours. Students have access to an instructor via e-mail outside of regular business hours.

Course Introduction

This course provides a complete overview of the typical defects possible in various types of roof coverings, drainage systems, flashings, skylights, chimneys and other roof penetrations. The course explains steep roofing, steep roof flashing, and flat roofing. The student applies knowledge of roofing to inspections that focus on system performance, safety concerns, while complying with good construction practice.


Course Prerequisites

None.

Course Notes

Course manual provided for on-going reference. There is a final exam upon completion of the course. Participants who receive 75% or higher on their exam will receive a certificate.
